Upgrading Mac G5 to Intel dualcore processor

I have a Mac G5 with a pre-Intel processor.  I would like to upgrade to a dual core Intel processor both for power and for the ability to run Windows apps.  Is it feasible to replace the processor in the Mac G5 for this kind of upgrade?  Thanks very much.

No, the Mac G5 only supports IBM power pc cpu's.

Correct Jamie ... the is NO WAY to upgrade to Intel in a G5 box apart from physically disassembling a new Intel Mac and sticking it in the G5 case .. only for the VERY BRAVE or OBSESSED.

None of the 3rd party PPC accellerator companies are offering Intel upgrades either .. so you might wait and see but the prospect isn't likely.

Only Pre-G5 Macs with ZIF sockets could be upgraded in the way you want to. Generally speaking, it's not something Macs do. They want you to buy a new computer after 3 years, not upgrade the one you've got.
