Will it boot from the System CD if you boot while holding down the c key?
If so, pull down the Disk Utility menu and run Repair Disk.

OK, so it will turn on but not get past the spinning gearwheel while starting up? But you can get to it via the network?
Interesting. Not seen that combination before. But, try this:
When you power on the computer, hold down command-V on your keyboard. This will boot into what's called "verbose" mode. It'll basically boot with all text on the screen, and will likely "hang" at a point where it'll give you some information we can go on. Give that a try and let me know what you get.

Try this first.

Reset the system controller by powering it down and removing all cables (power, USB...all cables) and leave them out for one minute.
Then plug everything back in and boot...
If this doesn't work, try resetting the PRAM
