I have a client whose parent company installed a Cisco ASA 5510 with a SSM 10 module, connected to a two bonded 1.5mbps T1s. They have >40 WinPCs, 1 Linux box, and a couple of Macs. All the computers have no issues with their system updates, download fine in the background and install, All the computers except for the Macs.
The issue is related to the size of the software updates, <30mb download and install fine. >30mb the updates time out and the update fails.
Apple's documentation is poor. Cisco's makes no mention of it. And when you google "Cisco ASA Apple Software Update timing out", it is filled with iPhone updates.
I know the SSM-10 module scans each download that comes through the network before handing it off to the requesting computer. I have tried this on a MacMini running 10.4.7, on a iBook running 10.3, on a MacBook Pro running 10.5.9, and a MacBook Pro running 10.6.1. The MacBook Pro running 10.6.1.
I deal with their web site and general IT issues/help desk. This is beginning to be problematic for the design department.
Any guidance or thoughts or pointing in the right direction would be appreciated.
