G5 Constantly Going into Standby CPU 70+ Degrees C how to fix?

My G5 constantly goes into standby and can't figure out why. Just recently I installed a temp guage over the weekend and it is showing my cpu temp over 70 degrees celcius! How do I fix this? I think this is why I am having this problem.

Hello,

I would consider replacing the CPU fan.  What type of G5 are you running?

  1. Is your G5 water cooled? 
  2. Are all fans running? 
A good start is to clean out the case. Take it outside and blow it out with compressed air. Clean the intake & exhaust vents, CPU cooler, fan blades.
It's possible that your CPU thermal paste needs replacing.

I wouldn't have thought that 70C was hot enough to cause it to shut off.
