Can a the 30 inch displays (Apple, Samsung, Dell, HP) be driven at low resolutions only, say at 1280 x 800 or below, with integrated graphics outputted through a DVI-1 port.
Recognize this sounds very strange, but as a low-vision aid, large monitors running low resolutions are fantastic. So was wondering if such a monitor could be driven by something like a macbook or mac mini, or any number of lower cost desktops and laptops now with integrated graphics, with the obvious limitation that they will not be able to display at the resolutions they were principally designed for?
Apple reps say theirs won't work at all without a proper graphics card and DVI-D. Was wondering if that's really true if one just wants to do the above, and if so, is that the case for all 30 inch monitors?
