MacBook will not power on at all after replacing HD. White 13", Intel Processor

I just replaced the internal HD of a MacBook, white 13.3" Intel Core 2 2.0 Processor. After replacing the drive, the laptop will not power on at all. There is absolutely no reaction to the power button being pressed. Thought I was pretty carefull, the only possible damage I see is a tiny tear in the ribbon cable attached to the trackpad, might have nicked it when I was sliding the new drive in, but it seems to be local to the trackpad. In the old days there were cryptic Keyboard combinations to rest the PowerManager that would sometimes fix this. Only thing I see online is to take out battery/unplug/hold down Power ON button for 15 seconds, this did not fix the problem. I'm already looking at having to shell out to fix this for someone, I guess I could take it further apart but was hoping someone might have a suggestion. I have tried putting back in the original HD, and no HD. Still not able to power on laptop.   ;-(

These particular Macs have a power cable under the keyboard (upper left of the motherboard) that attaches to a connector (very small) that has a tenuous pair of wires attaching it to the motherboard.  Look closely to the end of the cable.  If you see two very short wires poking out at the end, you've (unfortunately) snapped it off.

It can be repaired by a very good service center.  Unless you are really good with a soldering iron (and have the right tools) , I would not fix it myself.

If that's not the problem, I can't help further.
