I recently bought an Asus CD-RW/DVD-Rom USB Drive that advertised compatibility with Mac.
Though it did come with what they are saying is a mac driver, and it is recognized in my system profiler, I can't seem to find any software to support or recognize the drive. Toast, Dragonburn and Discribe all say there is no drive connected.
Asus tech support says they utilize nero for burning, but beyond that they can't help. Nero's website says they don't support Mac.
I've been at this for hours now, and still can't figure a solution.
Can anyone help?? Please??

105 and 106 are superdrive models, he only said he had cd-rw/dvd rom.
but more than that, I don't have an answer; you might try a clean install of the OS, and the latest version of iTunes to see if it will burn an audio cd. Make sure the drive is supported in OS 9 (check their website), make sure your extentions are enabled properly, etc.
Before you go doing a clean install it's important for us to know which OS you're running. I've seen this before. My guess is you're running OS 9.x.....if so, create a new extensions set in your extensions manager. In this set enable ONLY the most necessary extensions and control panels to use the burner. Restart the computer. This may take several tries, it's a trial and error thing. Good luck.

Asus is using the Pioneer mechanism which is the same one that ships with SuperDrive macs. Probably the 105 or 106. I dont believe the 106 was out before development on OS 9 discontinued so there may not be support there but there definitely is in OS X.
