Try using a free utility like Onyx http://www.titanium.free.f
Also reset the PRAM by cold booting while holding down the command-option-p-r key combination until you have heard the startup chime a third time.

This start happening I believe after getting my laptop back from Apple support. They replace the front case and the botton case. I guess you are thinking that has nothing to do with the problem.. I agree but still worth mention it. First time I turned on it came with a clock and time warning. Time Was set to 2001.
Anyway, the problem is happening either using my airport or using an ethernet cable connected directly to the AP. There are other clients using DHCP in my Network including a PC and a Itouch. I tried restarting the machine and renewing DHCP lease.
Everything works fine If I set manually a static IP address.
Any ideas?

Hi guys, Thanks for your comments.
I took my computer to work and I have the same problem there. Both interfaces (eth and airport) connected using self assigned address.
I tried Onyx. I ran the System Clean. No luck. I also did a cold boot. No luck
About Dora:
Although I don't know where the DORA logs are I ran a tcpdump -i en0 (ethernet interface) and I can see the DHCP traffic going on both ways. This is an extract from the tcpdump from home.
Pablos-MacBook:~ root# tcpdump -i en0
tcpdump: verbose output suppressed, use -v or -vv for full protocol decode
listening on en0, link-type EN10MB (Ethernet), capture size 96 bytes

After reading several threads in different blogs, It looks like this is a common problem that can occur if your battery run flat, or send your mac for a mayor service that requires removing motherboard, battery, etc.. First symptom clock set to 2001, then it would no longer obtain an IP lease from my DHCP server. Hence, I could not connect to the network unless I disabled the OSX firewall. My MacBook is running the latest 10.5.7.
For whatever reason there are one to three files that might get corrupted.
If you find the entry Signature=adhoc running any of these commands:
codesign --display -vvv /usr/sbin/configd
codesign --display -vvv /usr/sbin/racoon
codesign --display -vvv /usr/sbin/mDNSResponder
cod
Executable=/usr/sbin/confi
Identifi
Format=Mac
CodeDirectory v=20001 size=1092 flags=0x2(adhoc) hashes=50+2 location=embedded
CDHash=f7
Si
Info.pl
Sealed Resources=none
Internal requirements count=0 size=12
This command inspects the codesign for the configd module. You'll get back several lines of text. If one of them reads "Signature = adhoc", it indicates that the file is corrupted. (actually, the code in the module is OK, but the signature of the module is such that the OSX firewall refuses to trust it).
Quick solution restore any of those from your backups
If you dont have one, copy and replace the files from another computer. Just remember to make a backup of the file before.
In some case running http://support.apple.com/d
It seems that the combo updater installs new copies of configd and mDNSResponder that are correctly codesigned.
If the codesign command returns "Authority=Apple Root CA", then the configd module is factory-fresh, and you'll need to look elsewhere for a fix.
On my MacBook, only configd had adhoc signatures.

Take a look at your logs for D.O.R.A(Discover Offer Request Accept). Do you see any of these activites in your logs?
