There are reports of that causing wireless problems. Apple has posted a patch: http://www.apple.com/downl

Browse All TopicsI have a macbook 1.83 Ghz Intel Core Duo with Mac OS x.5.8 on it. Recently, I have been having trouble staying connected through airport. Places that I used to have full bars in are only barely connected now, or do not connect at all. When the macbook can't connect it can scan for the network and find it (one that I've connected to before), but when it finds it I usually have to input the password and then it tries to connect. After trying is says 'connection timed out' and then it doesn't connect. The only way to get it to connect is to get fairly close (within 10 ft) of a network router and then try to reconnect.
Does anyone have any ideas of how to fix this problem?
Thanks.

Your easiest solution is to buy a Mac compatible USB Wirless Adapter for ~$30.
Is this a white MacBook? If so, instructions for getting at the card are here but I would only recommend it if your handy, and OK with the fact that any mistake you may make could cost you your Mac:
