ipod constantly rebooting

hey- it is a strange problem.the apple logo comes but it would reboot again and again.
and it wont get detected by computer and i tunes.i have tried disk mode.i pod does get detected-but again if i try to syn my whole library the same problem persists.but strangely if i syn my play list only-i pod works fine...
please help--its not under warranty and is 5g i pod.and an using i tunes 8.1 on vista
