Converting wmv to mp4 files for ipod problem.

I'm trying to convert some wmv files to mp4 to view on my ipod touch. I have tried about 4 different programs and every one say's "files converted successfully" and shows the converted file but the file size is 0kb. Every program I have used is the same story. I have also tried a few different files to rule out a bad file. I would really like to view these files on my ipod, has anyone ever heard of this?
