How to download Itunes onto Win XP (w/SP 2) when my system thinks ITUNES is not win32.exe

Asked by beebop1 in iTunes Software for MP3 Downloads, Microsoft Windows Operating Systems

I just bought IPOD Nano, and attempted to download ITUNES from the apple web site.  My system is a Compaq laptop with Windows XP Service Pack 2 Professional Edition. I tried 3 times to download it, and each time I received the message "File is not valid win32.exe format."  I have old-school dial-up modem, but it did download successfully, just would not install due to that message.   And I downloaded from the link Apple provided for downloading for Windows XP and Vista.  Help!  I am frustrated.  Thanks!Start Free Trial
