Need codec's to install to open mp4 file

I have an .mov file I cannot open with my itunes or quicktime, is there a codec I need or another program I need to open the file with?

Use Gspot to find out which codec you need for that file.

It could be that the MP4 file was not created by Quicktime .. it is possible that the codecs are not standard ones.

First I would try using a useful alternative to Quicktime which is called VideoLan Client (VLC) which can play many more movie formats than standard Quicktime

The use of Gspot to find the relevant codec for the file is a valid answer in my opinion.
