The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Install updates without administrator rights

Asked by 1pcxpert in Windows 2003 Server, Windows XP Operating System, iTunes Software for MP3 Downloads

Hello all,
I have a situation that I hope someone will be able to help me with.

I have a domain with a Server running Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard edition (SP2) and with 8 client PCs running XP-PRO (SP2).
Unfortunately the owner doesn't want to restrict what the employees run on the PCs so I have some PCs that have various types of software installed like Itunes, yahoo messenger among others.

As you all know some of these have to be updated quite frequently and it's been quite a pain having to go to each PC when I'm called because the users get the notification to update but when they try to do it they can't because they do not have Admin rights.
I want to avoid having to give admin rights to some of these users but don't know of any way that I can have them be able to run these updates but at the same time keep them from installing just anything on their PCs before checking with me first.
I know about the "Windows Server Update Services"  but I don't think (please correct me if I'm wrong) it works with other software other than MS Updates.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance.
