Question

How to Unlock Apple iPhone for use with Verizon Wireless

Asked by: SolidGold

I'm dying to get my hands on a new iPhone, but my cellular provider is Verizon Wireless. I've heard a lot of people talking about hacks that allow you to unlock iPhones and use them with carriers other than AT&T.

If I were to buy an iPhone, how can I unlock it to use it with my current provider, Verizon Wireless?

will not happen
iphone uses a GSM Network, and Verizon is CDMA.

Unless iphone develops a totally new version of the phone, it wont happen.

G'day,

OK my understanding is, you can use any carrier but the internet features like web, email and cal will not work, you'll only be able to use it as a phone. But if you're near a wireless the internet services will work that way.

Hope this helps,

Cheers,

Arthur

SolidGold,

I concur with bignadad, you will not be able to use the iPhone with Verizon Wireless, the iPhone will only work on a GSM network, which limits you to AT&T or T-Mobile in the US.

Arthur_Mino,

Can you confirm, by referring me to something, whether your statement is true? Am I able to use an iPhone on Verizon, with the exception of web and email features? Or is bignadad correct?

I'll say it one more time, you CANNOT use the iPhone on the Verizon Wireless network, the technology is incompatible.

you cannot. i am not going on heresay. it is a fact.

From the iphonessimfree site:
"9. Will it work on my network?

If your network supports a standard GSM sim, it will. "

Which reinforces what we have said all along, that the iPhone will NOT work on a CDMA network, which is what Verizon Wireless uses.

G'day,

Sorry, my info comes from an Apple rep in Australia that has one. He can receive and make calls, but all the IP services are not available. Unless he's near a wireless access point. Now, about the CDMA. I'm sure CDMA technology has been superseded here in Australia. So the network would of been either GSM or 3G.

Hope this helps,

Cheers,

Arthur

The iPhone in the US uses a SIM CARD like T-Mobile Uses.  Verizon Wireless does not use a sim card.  Also, AT&T uses GSM which is not compatible with CDMA networks.  The technology is completely different between AT&T and Verizon Wireless.

Please read this is in the FAQ;

18.  Is there any GSM network that your Solution doesnt work for?
No. With the new Solution that we are offering we have not found any phone or any GSM network that doesnt work. Our Solution is Guaranteed to work!. Please note: That the iPhone will never work on CDMA2000 networks like those operated by Verizon Wireless and Sprint. This isn't a cracking issue, its a fully incompatible radio technology issue. We simply can't turn a GSM phone into a CDMA2000 phone.
