iPhone on Exchange 2003

I am trying to setup exhange email for a handful of iPhone users.  While they are connected to the office Wifi they get there emails just fine, once they disconnect ftom the office wifi they are no longer able to get their email.  From outside or inside the office network I am able to telnet to servername port 143 and get a banner, but when I telnet to 993 it does not give a banner and disconnects as soon as I hit a key.  I am not sure what I am missing to let them connect outside of the office network.  Any suggestions?  I have ports 25, 143, and 993 open on the firewall and get good replies from 25, and 143 993 looks like it connects but does not give a banner and disconnects with any key stroke.

I think u need direct open 143 port for ur email server. i phone default setting is use 143 port. u need change that to 993.

but u can change iphone's setting. This case u need change ur wireless port setting )993->143.
It sounds like your firewall is not passing the traffic to the right server. Verify that you ports are open to the right IP. You might want to reboot it also. If that doesn't do it make you that you have the DNS on the outside setup right and point to the right outside IP.

I am using the same DNS for OWA so I know that setting is ok, also when I am outside the network I can telnet to the servername port 143 and get a good banner with the proper name.  I am not sure what to expect from a telnet to servername 993, what I get is a blank screen.  When I hit any key at all it disconnects.

i only gave a B not because your help was bad but it was not the full answer.  i really appreciate the help.  It ended up being i had to change Authentication from password to NTLM and open port 587.
