All of a sudden, all of the icons are missing from my iPhone desktop.
Not sure how to get them back.

They may not be missing or deleted, they may just NOT be synced.
before performing the restore, go into your iPhone Menu, and go to Applications Tab
Make sure the checkbox for "Sync all applications" Is Checked. then perform another sync. They should all come back.

Not really, You do not understand what "Sync all applications" means. He said ALL of his icons were missing, you were addressing the wrong issue. I instructed him on the order of things he should do to get his phone back to normal. You were just addressing missing App Store applications, not everything.
My solution was the exact same as yours.
I said to Restore the phone.
"Go into Itunes, plug in your iphone. Then in the iPhone menu, choose Restore. it should have a DATE to choose by and it should also be fairly new because the backing up occurs often.
Go ahead and perform a restore and all of your icons should come back"
And you said To Restore the phone . You said the exact same thing as me as a solution.
1) sync with iTunes
2) power cycle phone
3) restore

Hey there,
I'm guessing something has gone wrong with either Syncing, or backing up or something.
What i woudl suggest is this. (it sounds like your Apps are gone)
Go into Itunes, plug in your iphone. Then in the iPhone menu, choose Restore. it should have a DATE to choose by and it should also be fairly new because the backing up occurs often.
Go ahead and perform a restore and all of your icons should come back.
