I currently have Windows XP and my iPhone synced and backed up to it. I going to format and upgrade to Vista. How do I preserve my iPhone - iTunes association so that my iPhone does not wipe out completely(Contacts, Apps, Music) in Vista thinking it's a new system.

Thank you for your reply. I first connected the iPhone without authorizing the computer and it started syncing and deleteing the apps from my iPhone. I immediately cancelled and authorized the computer and tried connecting again but this time it did not delete the remaining apps on the iPhone but it's asking to erase the iPhone music library to sync with this computer.

Hello. Ok assuming that every song/movie etc etc you have on your iphone is Paid for.
There are a couple of things you can do here.
First off, as far as Contacts are concerned just make sure that after your reformat, when you plug the iPhone back up into itunes you authorize the phone (which i see you have done)
Then go into the INFO tab, from there you can do your contacts Sync the way you want to, just hit the correct check box to sync your contacts. this will take your contacts off your phone and sync them with your PC. you can choose Outlook... etc etc. You can even sync with Yahoo. Not sure how you did it before.
for your Music and videos? The FIRST thing you want to do is when inside itunes, go to FILE at the top and choose "Transfer purchases" this will take all of the music and movies and apps that are paid for, and take them off your iphone and put them into your itunes library/computer again.
After that you can sync, but everything should be the same.
The reason that it is requesting the delete and sync is that it seems to refer to another Itunes... For this issue, you will have to delete and sync as it requests, carefully follow the above procedure so that you will be able to sync back your info. Try setting your iphone to manual sync so that you don't marry your iphone to an expecific computer...

No prob, once you delete everything and connect to the itunes, it will tell you if you want to restore the info and if you bought music, just click on authorize computer and input your apple ID and pass...
