I must say your post has renewed my confidence in ee, after many answers referring to virus filtering, this seems like a real solution. I have set the server up as your site says, and made some adjustments, it now properly passes the connectivity test. I do not have an iphone or windows mobile device, so i wont be able to test it tilll next week when I am on site again with one of the users' phones.

If you are getting an SSL prompt then EAS will not work. It cannot cope with the certificate prompt. .net/

If you don't want users to connect to OWA without SSL, why are you still using a self generated certificate? That means the users have to select to ignore an error which is a security risk. Exposes the user to a man in the middle attack, not only on your server but elsewhere, as they are used to ignoring the error. Get a trusted certificate, GoDaddy do to them for US$30/year https://DomainsForExchange
MSKB 817379 has some flaws if you enable things in the wrong way.
I wrote a slightly different version here: http://www.amset.info/exch
How are you doing the redirect? That can interfere with things and it is not something I recommend.
The iPhone is actually a poor choice to test things as Apple didn't quite deploy EAS 100% correctly (type Apple). It is best to test with a Windows Mobile device, the emulator (free download from Microsoft) or use the test site: https://www.testexchangeco
