I guess your Iphone uses IMAP protiocol to connect to Exchange. Try configuring a IMAP profile for the same user in Outlook express on a client machine and check

iPhone uses the Active sync feature
"connection to the server failed " that comes with outlook
normally if there is an issue in GALs if the Address list is not populated on the server, and if the user is not listed in GAL
u can try removing and adding the exchange attributes for that user

Are you sure that DNS is working correctly after the server was moved..?

How about the certificate? What certificate are you using..? Are certified authority or a self signed one...?

The iPhone is not a good tool for testing that you have conenctivity with exchaneg correctly...

Try https://www.testexchangeconnectivity.com/

which will tell you want really is going on... Post back the results here and we can take it from there...

DNS is fine - and the certificate is the same as in use previously which is a self signed.

Have managed to get an IMAP connection to work via Outlook Express, and having monitored the firewall logs, 443 is being replied to correctly.  Nothing has changed on the server since since the move and the IPhone will connect to other server accounts on a different domain.  Phone has also been hard reset, but the problem remains.

It seems to me that you are using a self signed SSL cert. iPhones dont like these very much..

I would recommend that you go and buy a certificate from goDaddy.com (no more than $40) and this should help to resolve this error..

by: support_futurereliancePosted on 2009-02-25 at 02:50:12ID: 23732189

We have tested the phone on another exchange setup also using self signed cert and it works.  It also worked with the self signed cert until the server was moved so I dont think that necessarily is the answer.

You are right, Self signed certificates can work.. But.. in many cases I have seen them case trouble, the iPhone doest like certificate problems and just stops behaving..

@ $40 it, I think the price is worth it. Not only to hopefully fix this problem, but also to give your webmail users a nicer experience.

If you really don't want to go for it then the only other thing I could suggest is to use the Enterprise deployment toolkit to push the certificate to the iphone first...
