Question

Iphone Sent items not syncing

Asked by: Doonwong

I have an issue with an iphone using activesync and exchange 2003.

I can send and receive email from the i-phone but when I send the items do not appear in the sent items folder on the phone they do however appear in the exhange mailbox when viewing this from Outlook or OWA.

The sent items that were in the sent items folder when I set the phone up are displayed.

Any ideas?

If you select the sent items folder and then press the small round arrow on the bottom left of the iPhone Screen it should download them.

demazter,

If I do this I get the checking for mail with the animation and then the display says updated with the time and date but none of the sent items appear.

Sounds odd!
You have tried powering down?
So you gave the latest software?

From where are you sending the items? Check the file version of MasSync.dll and Store.exe. I would recommend you update those files to the latest version and then check.
For MasSync.dll the Hotfix can be downloaded from

For Store.exe the hotfix can be downloaded from.

these hotfixes should have all been included in Service Pack 2 for exchange.
Do you have SP2 for exchange? If not then you need it..

Yes I have the updated versions of these files and have SP2 installed for exchange.

I'm now having problems receiving mail on the i-phones as well as the sending issue I was having earlier.  I only receive the email on the i-phone if I log into OWA and check the mail there.

by: demazterPosted on 2009-08-26 at 09:00:29ID: 25189181

I would say the config on the iphone has a problem.  I would remove the exchange account from the phone and recreate it.

by: demazterPosted on 2009-08-26 at 09:02:01ID: 25189200

Also download the activesync test app from the AppStore and make sure everything is as it should be.

by: DoonwongPosted on 2009-08-26 at 10:38:24ID: 25190177

The issue seems to be that when I create the mail account on the i-phone all the items are imported from the exchange account.

After this the phone does not sync with the exchange account unless I log into OWA on a PC at which point the folders update on the i-phone with any new emails.

So the initial synchronisation works fine but after this you cannot receive emails without logging into OWA.  You can still send emails but these do not appear in the sent items on the phone.

I've used several different phones and recreated the exchange account numerous times with the same result.

Okay,  I've finnaly got to the bottom of the problem.  The email that was coming in was being routed to a seperate server where it was being processed by Mailmarshal software.

This server required patching up to service pack 2.

After patching the server and running updates ActiveSync is now working fully.
