i phone stolen-what happens to data?

hi guys
Need some advice..
My iphone was stolen yesterday (at a club). I called at&t and they suspended the number.
The problem is there is data on the phone like pictures, songs ect.
Will the thief be able to misuse that ? like connect to my itunes and stuff?
The Iphone is password protected though(the four digit number which you need to enter)
I read from other blogs that we cannot track the device. Is that true?
Do i file a police complaint?
