So when you open the account on the iphone and push the round arrow button on the bottom left hand side of the screen what does it say?

by: TarasShumyloPosted on 2009-10-30 at 02:34:02ID: 25701304

I push settings>>Mail, contacts, Calendars>>MyAccountName>> I do not see round arrow button on the bottom left hand side of the screen. Where is it?

by: demazterPosted on 2009-10-30 at 02:39:42ID: 25701335

from the home screen select mail this will take you into your mail account.
There is a small round arrow on the bottom left of the screen in here.

Ok I see.

So. It is sad -the connection to the server failed-

My settings:

email: the default e-mail that is in AD Users and computers snap-in on Exchange. It is FirstName.Secondname@domain.ua

Server: ip of exchange server

domain: I tried Fabricam . Also tried Fabricam.kiev.ua (fabrikam is example)
username: FirstName.SecondName. I tried also FirstName.SecondName@Fabricam.kiev.ua and FirstName.SecondName@Fabricam.ua
Password: password to login to computer
Description: FirstName.Secondname@domain.ua

Use SSL: I tried both settings

Oh, sorry. It is not what it sad. It sad -the connection to the server failed- because of wrong proxy settings. Internet didn't work either. So I changed proxy settings, Internet on iPhone work well and the behaviour is like this:

- when I enter my account, Inbox and push round arrow button on the bottom left hand side of the screen. It says in the bottom of the screen that inbox was updated, but no massages arrive (I have hundreds of massages)
- if I compose a new letter and try to send it it says -Cannot send mail. An error occured while delivering this massage-, when I click round arrow button on the bottom left hand side of the screen it hangs up on sending mail.

I have suggestion: may be it is do to presence of proxy in our Internetwork. Is it possible to bypass proxy for some addresses in iPhone?

when you access webmail via Outlook Web Access does this work? Do you use https or http?
Do you get a certificate error?

The settings should be

email: your primary e-mail address
server: url used to access OWA without the http/s part
domain: your local domain name that you use on your network
username: the username that appears under the account tab in active directory

demazter:
Abaout domain name
Should it be in NetBios form like Fabricam or in FQDN name like fabricam.kiev.ua

by: demazterPosted on 2009-10-30 at 04:06:43ID: 25701746

it doesn't really matter but if you use the FQDN then it needs to be the internal domain name not the external one.

by: TarasShumyloPosted on 2009-10-30 at 05:20:43ID: 25702183

The behaviour is Exactly the same from internal network or from GPRS.

- creation and verification of account is successfull
- when I enter my account, Inbox and push round arrow button on the bottom left hand side of the screen. It says in the bottom of the screen that inbox was updated, but no massages arrive (I have hundreds of massages)
- if I compose a new letter and try to send it it says -Cannot send mail. An error occured while delivering this massage-, when I click round arrow button on the bottom left hand side of the screen it hangs up on sending mail.

by: TarasShumyloPosted on 2009-10-30 at 05:23:05ID: 25702199

During creation of account it asks to verify certificate. Of course I accept.

by: demazterPosted on 2009-10-30 at 05:24:53ID: 25702211

The exchange server will be on a different address if you use it on your internal network to what it will be on your external network.

Please follow the following procedure.
Delete your exchange account from the iphone
Disable the wireless
Cycle the power on the iphone
re-create the exchange account using the external address you use to access your Outlook Web Access.

by: TarasShumyloPosted on 2009-10-30 at 05:30:23ID: 25702242

I can access my exchange server from computer using https://webmail.domain.kiev.ua/exchange form internal or from external.

Also when I type webmail.domain.kiev.ua/exchange it doen't verify
If I type webmail.domain.kiev.ua it verifies successfully. And the upper behaviour occur.

Also I did already what you sad, i.e. delete and recreate account. I'll try to do it again now. Is there some dns cashe on iPhone that I can flush. I also can learn our external address and type it insted of  webmail.domain.kiev.ua

by: demazterPosted on 2009-10-30 at 05:33:11ID: 25702270

you don't need to put the https or the /exchange part onto the iphone just the webmail.domain.kiev.ua

by: TarasShumyloPosted on 2009-10-30 at 05:44:00ID: 25702337

I have just do this

Delete your exchange account from the iphone
Disable the wireless
Cycle the power on the iphone
re-create the exchange account using the external address you use to access your Outlook Web

And the behaviour is the same. I do not have the idea what to do.

by: TarasShumyloPosted on 2009-10-30 at 06:55:10ID: 25702944
