iphone says incorrect password when tying to sync to exchange

We have our first iphone.  I am trying to set it up through active-sync.  For some reason it tells me the password is incorrect when syncing with exchange.  I have logged into the owa page using the same credentials.  Wondering if anyone has heard of this and if they know of a fix.
