windows 2003 - dual nic connection issues

An administrator of ours setup a data tape backup server which has dual nic connections.  He configures one interface a static IP address and connects it to the cooperate LAN which backup some production servers.  Another nic interface is connected to a private isolated network.  This nic is assigned another static ip address and mask only but no default gateway.

From time to time during the backup process, the job losts connection to network devices on both production LAN and private segment .

Are there any special considerations he needs to pay attention on setup like this?  For example, does he has to specify any static routes on any device?

Please advise.

Many thanks.Start Free Trial
