Both a static and dynamic are being used, I believe... It has an airport card that I recently had installed, and now I'm trying to switch the settings so that I can connect in my office, which is a static IP (manual)

Browse All TopicsI'm having a networking problem (Outlook express reports it as a 'strange networking problem' ) and while trying to troubleshoot it, I was trying to double check my tcp/ip settings, however, I can't seem to get into it. I keep getting an error that says it's either locked (which it's not, I checked) or it's in use by another program. According to my finder, only the finder is running. What could my problem be?

Could be a corrupt control panel. Could be an extension conflict. Could be that you desperately need to run Norton Disk Doctor. Download Tome Viewer from www.versiontracker.com and extract the TCP/IP control panel from the system tome on your System CD. Drop it into your CP folder replacing the old control panel. See what happens. Also try tossing your TCP/IP preferences from the preferences control panel.

I am going for it. It sounds like to me that your pref file is corrupt or even worse that you might have a major system error. I strongly suggest you re-install the network aspects of your machine and go from there.
Since I doubt highly that I will get feedback...I will enjoy the glide until this answer becomes mine.

Are you using a Static (Manual) IP address or are you obtaining your address vis DHCP?
