The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Error On Mac OS X and Jaguar when I upgraded my Windows SERVER.... PLEASE HELP!!!

Asked by uking-ching in Apple Networking, Appletalk

Before the upgrade, our Server setup was Pentium III 733MHz, 512MB RAM, 40GB HD running under Windows NT 4.0 SP6a, Exchange Server 5.5 SP4, running on TCP/IP with 65 PC's and 4 Mac connected on the Network. Everything was working smooth and easy, but we need to change the hardware because it was a bit slow...

So I upgraded to a dual XEON 2.0GHz, 1GB RAM, 80GB HD. I was trying to setup my Windows NT 4.0 but it kept on hanging upon installation, its that blue screen with HEX values on it...

So I was forced to setup Windows Server 2000. It was a sucess but I guess there was an error with the Configuration. Here are the step by step on what I did:

1. I setup the Win2K Svr to join our existing domain.
2. Installed Exchange 5.5 then upgraded to SP4.
3. I transferred all the mailbox from the old NT4.0 to the New Win2K by moving the mailbox.
3A. I Left the Mailbox of the two Mac users because of some reason, they cannot connect to the mail server.
3B. Mac User 1 is running under System 9, he can access the mails, internet and network, but the rest of the mac users cannot because one is running MAC OS X and the remaining 2 are using Jaguar.
3C. There's an error that kept on appearing with the Higher Versions of MAC... Somebody was using the Network Address, but no one was using that IP Address, I kept on changing it but still it will prompt the same error...
4. The Mac user 1 is having a problem everytime I will attempt to move his mailbox to the new server...

I don't know if my assumptions are factors of these errors, I was wondering if ever... I will change the Win2K Server to a Primary Domain Controller, activate the AppleTalk Protocol and disconnect the old server from the network, will the Mac Users have the same error? Will they be able to reconnect to the Mail Server again?

Also, is there a way to transfer the domain users account info from NT 4.0 to the different new server w/c is Win2K? If anyone here can help, it would be great!... THANKS A LOT!!!
