I have just discovered that Apples Safari Browser does not support NTLM, the authentication protocol that Microsofts ISA Server uses.
What i want to know is, are there any browsers that you know of (like Safari) that take their proxy settings, including the username and password from the network preferences rather than having their own proxy settings inside the program, but ALSO support NTLM.
Or if you can find a way of getting Safari to work with NTLM, that would be even better.
I have tried Authoxy, but its too tedious to keep working.

I have already tried Mozilla and it keeps the proxy settings inside the program. I want them to take it from the control panel, as, having a laptop i go to many different networks with different proxies, and the location facility in OS X is really handy, its just when browsers keep the settings in the browser itself, it dosen't actually switch over properly
There is a working solution to this. Even as of 10.3 and the latest Safari, unfortunately, a Mac has difficulty with the MS NTLM authentication.
There is a solution that works, and works well.
The solution requires some work in the command-line, and involves a Python script, but you don't need to compile anything. Download the script, backup the default config file, and then customize the config file to match your Proxy server.

The key settings in the config file will be information you'll need to get from your IT people managing the Proxy server. Namely: username (should match up with what they have config'd for you), domain/workgroup, and the IP address and port used for the Proxy server
Last thing you'll need to do will be create a startup item for the script, so that it runs at every bootup.

which is described as "depricated", but even Apple is still using it as of 10.3 so that will work fine for you, it's how we did it.

Mozilla post 1.4b supports NTLM though you'll have to try it and find out whether itll take proxy info from the Network control panel.
