local website not coming up

Asked by RTKVSNL in Apple Networking, Appletalk

Tags: coming, up, website

i have a web application on one of my Windows 2000 servers running locally. to access this from other windows machines in the network, we use the following URL: http://Jupiter/SiemensIntra/home.aspx

Jupiter is the server name
SiemensIntra is the website

Now, i connected an Apple Mac (osX) into the network. This machine can access all the other windows machines in the network, and can also access the internter. however, i face the following problem when accessing the internal website that i mentioned above:

1) when i use the following URL it works -> http://192.168.0.110/SiemensIntra/home.aspx
2) when i use the regular URL, it says "Jupiter not found". why does this happen? is there some setting i need to make to allow it to recognise Jupiter in the URL address?

I cannot use the IP all the time, becuase in some places, Jupiter is hard coded into subsequent URLS, so if will fail on some pages in the website

would appreciate some help here. Thanks!!
