Tiger VPN client (PPTP) to Windows 2003 SBS

Hi all!

The OVERVIEW:

I have a Windows 2003 SBS configured to allow RRAS via PPTP. It is behind a Linksys BEFSR41v4 (firmware July, 2005) with port forwarding of the relevant VPN ports forwarding (1723).

Windows clients can connect perfectly via PPTP. All shares are visible.

Mac (all OS X 10.4.4) clients can connect via PPTP to the server while on the internal network.

Outside the network, Tiger's VPN client stalls at "negotiating" and times out.

The allowed authentication types are: MS-CHAPv2, MS-CHAP, CHAP.

The users are configured for DIAL-IN Access (allowed).

I have tried DigiTunnel as well without any success in connecting via PPTP.

The QUESTION:

**Is there another port I need to forward for the OS X VPN client to authenticate properly off-site?**

Thanks very much.

Ok, resolved finally!!

When the 2003 server was set as DMZ, it worked fine.

Since the ports were being forwarded properly, decided it was properly router-specific.

Started with a Linksys 4 port VPN endpoint router...

Moved on to a Linksys wired 4 port router...

Moved on to a Netgear wired 4 port router...

Then tried a Belkin Pre-N wireless router...

All without success on this issue.

a D-Link DI-634M worked like a charm.

Configured my ports under "virtual servers" instead of "port forwarding".

Forwarded SMTP, POP, IMAP, SSH, FTP, HTTP, PPTP, Sharepoint and IPSec.

VPN connected with Mac or PC. Mac worked properly using OS X 10.4.4's VPN client.

Thanks Walsellers for trying!
