Also try setting your FTP client to Passive Mode.

Browse All TopicsI recently bought a MacBook Pro, and I'm in a hotel on a work trip in South Carolina.
I can't connect to any of my standard port 21 FTP servers. I CAN connect to an SFTP server on port 22. I've checked with the hotel and the wi-fi provider, and they said everything is working properly. I've tried connecting with Cyberduck, through my browser (Firefox and Safari), and through CuteFTP on my XP partition through Parallels.
Is there any reason why everything about my connectivity is working fine except for port 21 FTP connections?? Is it something wierd on the new MacBook Pro machines? All I get are "Timed Out" errors. I never even get to a point where I can enter a user/pass.
I really need to get some files uploaded while I'm out here working. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
Let me know if you need any more info.
Thanks!

I just returned home from my trip, and it WAS the hotel wi-fi causing the problems. web2ftp.com was an ok temp fix. Not as smooth as I would've liked, but it worked well enough to get me by.
Thanks everyone!

I suspect that it's to do with the hotel that you're staying in.
A quick way to solve your immediate problem is to go here

and do the job.
Then when you're home and it still doesn't work ask a new question
