Browse All TopicsI just bought a new dual core duo 3.0GHz Mac Pro with 2GB of ram. This has two NIC's in it I was wondering if there is any way to load balance these ports. Or if there is any way to improve the network speeds on my machine. I am running Quark's QCM server and we have about 35 people using it on a gigibit network and it just does everything slower then all the other computers. I need to boost my network speed badly.

Hi zult21,
/article.h tml?path=S erverAdmin / 10.4/en/c 3ha3.html
I am not sure how you want the load balancing to be done and pardon me that I have no experience in QCM. There are two possibility that you can look at to improve the network throughput of your Server:
1 - Setup the server with two different IPs and make half of the staff on 1 IP and another half on the other. I am not sure if this will work with QCM.
2 - The more elegant way is to make sure that you have a 802.23ad compliant switch and network card on your server. I assume that you are running OS X Server. OS X Server 10.4 has a Link Aggregation capability. This will combine the two (or more) network card that you have into a virtual single card with the combination bandwidth. The information of how to do it is here: http://docs.info.apple.com
