MAC OS X 10.4.10 network mapping

I am attempting to map a network drive on a MAC OS X Version 10.4.10  and I get to the point (SMB/CIFS File System Authentication) where it ask for the workgroup or domain, name, and password, then there is where it fails.  I know for a fact that the username and password are correct but cannon figure out why the server is rejecting it.  - ANY assistance is appreciated.  -AA

DO the identical username, password and workgroup work from a Windows PC?
Are the Mac & Windows PC both on the same subnet etc.

Have you tried using the Windows PC IP address rather than its name?

Try all the following
smb://USERNAME@192.168.0.1/SHARENAME
smb://USERNAME:PASSWORD@192.168.0.1/SHARENAME
smb://WORKGROUP;USERNAME@192.168.0.1/SHARENAME
smb://WORKGROUP;USERNAME:PASSWORD@192.168.0.1/SHARENAME

ASKER

I have tried using th IP address rather than the name, and it still give me the same error:  username and password are incorrect.  It's wierd because it does see the network and the user is logged on to our wireless and can access the internet, as well as remote desktop on our internal network but not our network shared drives.

I will try your suggestions.  Thank you.

Previous didnt work but I will attempt this suggestion as soon as I get my hands on the Mac Laptop again.
Thanks for the help.
Does any one know what security ramifications come when disabling signing on your domain (i.e. Microsoft network server: Digitally sign communications)?  I've googled and read a few articles but are somewhat vague.
