Hi There,

I have 3 iMacs which need a drive mapped to a windows server 2003 box.

I have created the mapped drive and the user can browse to it but when the Mac is restarted the mapping is lost.

For clarification, i go to finder => connect to server then smb://server/sharename authenticate with username and PW and it connects fine it's just after it restarts.

The type of connection you are making is a one-off connection .. it is NOT the same as Mapping a drive to a letter in Windows.

There are several ways to do it in OSX 10.4 although I'd steer away from the old link provided by randdv8 above.

This page lists all the ways to connect. Personally I don't like the Applescript mounting method but your options are all outlined here

I use Option 3 - Connect on Demand with the shared network drives permanently listed in the Network/Servers folder. There is no messing with Login Items.
