The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Apple Yukon 2 and Port Zero?? PHP? Port 80?

Asked by rcbprov in Apple Networking, Internet Security

Hi EEs

I posted late in '08 about security concerns on my little Mac situation at home. The queries  below I find little info about on the Apple pages, which is where Apple will send you if it is something beyond the help person on the phone.

In the network preferences, will NET BIOS show up as soon as your MAC gets named...or does it only show up if it is networked?

What is Port Zero?

What is Safari Sycn client?

Does anyone know about some bug with a Darwin Kernel dated November 24th? It is what kicks in the whole Apple Yukon 2 thing.

I feel like somehow my machine has gotten pulled into some  network. Could that happen locally through port 80?  If so - how can I kill it?

How does MAC cloning happen?
If it has, would a new modem interrupt the issue?

Could a PHP server at my host's server and my CPanel get to my machine locally when I'm connected? I have no databases set up - but there will be a tag that says 'this database has been running for x number of days.'

My IP address is not changing 'every few days' as my ISP assures me, that is what it does.

I know this is sort of willy nilly questioning. Between Apple and the host for my sites, they suggest a Google or discussion board...and nothing I find gives me inner peace about these dangling questions.
Etc.

I just feel like there is some sub server, or interference, that because I cannot articulate it, I can't solve it.

I'd appreciate any explanation of the console paste below.
