basically, use "SMB" to share folder from WIN and MAC platforms.

for accessing a WIN based shared folder from MAC, just use Finder to "Connect to server", and use the following convension to type the path.
for "\\SERVER\SHARE", use "SMB://SERVER/SHARE"
for accessing a MAC based shared folder from WIN, just enable File Sharing on MAC first, then share the folder with the option of "Share files and folders using SMB". at the WIN side, use "\\SERVER\SHARE" to access it.
