You files are stored in /Library/CalendarServer/Documents.  By default, you do not have permissions to view the documents.  But you can add yourself to the group on the server named _calendar to gain read only access.

What is the DNS issue you are experiencing with your server?

by: ropehawnPosted on 2009-11-02 at 08:05:31ID: 25720593

ok here we go I am trying to use the box as a file, calendar, authentication for 2 location (both VPN Tunneled together) at its current state it is fine for the os x boxes. my problen is when i try to get xp boxes to join the domain. i have attached an screen grab of the network tab in server admin.

i have a kitchenchaosnyc.com pointing to my static ip.

by: nappy_dPosted on 2009-11-02 at 08:42:57ID: 25720967

There are two problems I see..you are trying to use a public domain name for your internal clients and your also trying to use a private IP with a public domain name.

We need to clean this up.

  1. your domain name for the xServe and internal network should become kitchenchaosnyc.private.co
  2. DNS: you need to have your internal DNS be the only authority referenced by your internal networked clients
  3. More to follow after we get this cleaned up...

You still haven't described the problem that you are having. What exactly does not work? Tell us what you are trying to accomplish, steps that you are taking, error messages that you are receiving.

sprry nappy d,

i am in a bit over my head here. is this what you wanted me to change?  and then on all clients set the dns server as 192.168.1.111?

by: ropehawnPosted on 2009-11-02 at 11:17:42ID: 25722635

here is the screen grab

by: nappy_dPosted on 2009-11-02 at 13:20:05ID: 25723863

That is correct.  Your DHCP server should ONLY be assigning your internal DNS from the xServe for all authoritative and non-authoritative lookups.

by: nappy_dPosted on 2009-11-04 at 05:15:29ID: 25738942

What is the status of this?  How is it going?

by: ropehawnPosted on 2009-11-04 at 15:30:10ID: 25745306

I will keep you up to date. I got pulled away to deal with other nightmares today.   But really i an not sure what my next step is. if i make the server the only dns server for the clients i can not see the internet.

do i have to tell the server to look at my OpenDNS servers?

Thank you,
Mike

by: nappy_dPosted on 2009-11-04 at 17:33:23ID: 25746007

NOT AT ALL!! When you do this, your server will still be able to resolve public DNS.  This is the way it has to be and always is.  If you have any openDNS servers to allow lookups you WILL end right back where you are as those servers will NEVER know about your private infrastructure.
