setting up Thunderbird for IMAP access to Exchange 2003

I have a Mac and I would like to use Thunderbird to access my office network's exchange server. I've tried a few different server names in the Thunderbird setup but nothing seems to be able to login to the server. Inside the network (in the office connected to LAN) the exchange server is referred to as machine_name.domain.local. Using this in Thunderbird I get "login to server failed"

I've also tried using the static IP address of the server but that doesn't work either.

All of the instructions I read on the internet say to use a server name such as "imap.domain.com" but we don't have any domain setup like that. Any help greatly appreciated.Start Free Trial
