iCal quits at once after launching it

hi folks,

for some reasons my iCal does not work as it quits at once after launching it from the dock. i can see its calendar window flash for about 1/10 sec, then everything of iCal disappears.

my OS is Leopard 10.5.2 with latest update. MS Office 2008 for was just installed.

why could this happen? how to recover using iCal?
