Problem connecting Windows XP pc's to Leopard Server

Asked by rcsholmes in Leopard (MAC OS 10.5), Apple Networking

I installed and am running Mac OS X Leopard Server on a G5. I have 2 Windows XP computers I would like to connect to the server which will act as the Primary Domain Controller (PDC). I set up the server as the PDC, added clients and computers and created my shared directory.  From the Windows PCs I can see and read files on the Mac server in the directory I set up.  However when I try to connect the Windows PC to the server (system properties, computer name, change "to join a domain") I get an error message saying domain cannot be found.  I have tried with 'client computer' set up  on server and without due to differing suggestions from Leopard Server documentation.  It seems odd I can see and read files from the shared drive but cannot write to it or connect.  Any help is greatly appreciated.

thanks
