Is there still a difference in color rendering on a Mac and a PC?

In the good old days when everyone was using 256 colors, Macs and PCs did not display the same color range (Thus the reduced set of "web safe" colors) In addition, Macs set their gamma to 1.8 while PCs set theirs to 2.2.
