One of our clients run a 40 user Trapeze Networking wireless LAN.
Access points of this obtain IP address from DHCP server running on a Apple Server.
This has worked for years. Recently the Apple Server was replaced (not by us) and now the DHCP function fails. Log shows that the access points (four units) connect, but are cut off by the server.
However, Windows clients have _always_ at this site had trouble obtaining an IP address via DHCP of the Apple servers, so we have provided fixed addresses for the Windows workstations.
Problem is, that the Mac supplier doesn't know much about networking, and Trapeze distributor nothing about Macs. We know something but not of issues with the DHCP server function of the newest Apple Servers.
Our theory is that some default setting of the Apple DHCP server has changed - but which and how to correct it?
Any suggestions or hints are welcome. Also on debugging tools (free or low cost) that could document the failure.
