mysql.default_socket
and
mysqli.default_socket
but these are for the built-in php and not MAMP so daren't mess with it

I can't get the connection to mysql working properly - it seems if I create a very simple test page with a require_once connection at the top of the page then it works, but when I try testing any existing site pages which have more includes on the page (headers / footers etc.) then it won't work (these are working elsewhere on live and test sites with both php4 and php5).
I've looked in the MAMP log files and I get this:
[14-May-2008 18:43:09] PHP Fatal error: require_once() [<a href='function.require'>fu
I've tried looking for answers all afternoon but I'm just getting more baffled as I never had these problems on the other 2 macs I use with MAMP.
Just noticed MAMP on the new mac is 1.7.1 - on older 2 macs is 1.7 - not sure if that might have any implications?
Thanks
