Virus protection software for Mac

Asked by clareturpin in Leopard (MAC OS 10.5), Apple Desktop, Desktop Anti-Virus

I have an Intel Core 2 Duo iMac running Leopard. Is it still the case that virus protection isn't really needed for Apple Macs. Or should I get something? Any suggestions gratefully received.
