Automatically adding files to iTunes Library

Asked by shacho in Mac OS 10.5 (Leopard), Apple Software, Mac OS X

I automatically record some radio streams around the clock and I would like for those items to show up in iTunes automatically, i.e. I don't want to have to drag the folder into iTunes and/or rebuild the library every time I want to perform a sync.  What's the best way to do this?  I tried to figure out how to use Automator and despite being a professional programmer, I just don't get it.  I think there is some way to trigger scripts when a folder's content changes.  Or maybe there's just an iTunes setting that can take care of this that I just overlooked.  Any ideas?
