Asked by medfacit in Mac OS 10.5 (Leopard), OS-X Server, Samba File Sharing
Hi there,
Not sure if this is possible. Is there a way to map users connecting via SMB to my AFP share? I would like to re-share a volume on a server that is unable to share out SMB and preserve permissions for each authenticated user.
For example:
User A is the only one that has access to Folder A on the AFP share and User B is the only one that has access to Folder B. I want it such that when User A authenticates via SMB he will get access to Folder A only, as it would be via AFP and User B will only get access to Folder B.
Please let me know if this can be achieved. FYI, this will be off an early 2008 Xserve running OSX 10.5.8 however I am flexible with the OS and can upgrade to 10.6 if required.
Thanks,
Chris.
