Asked by reconrider in Miscellaneous Networking, Networking Hardware Firewalls, OS-X Server
Hi fellow networkers,
Has anyone had the pleasure of supporting Apple MAC desktops and Servers in a Cisco environment before? We have a serious performance issue with our newly installed Apple MAC OS X 10.5.8 desktops comunicating with a Apple MAC OS X Server through a Cisco ASA5520. It takes 2 min to transfer a 20meg file from the desktop to the server. If you plug the desktop directly into the same network as the servers, ie bypass the ASA, the transfer of the 20meg file is instantaneous. I have done a packet capture on the ASA and see that besides the TCP chat there is numerous AFP requests and some failures as well as the odd DSI.
As the Apple MAC hardware and software is supported by a third party, I'm getting the usual run around and they are not giving me the time of day.
Take care
