The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Is there a way to merge imap and exchange email in Snow Leopard?

Asked by zombiwulf in Snow Leopard (OS 10.6), Internet Message Access Protocol (IMAP), Exchange Email Server

I'm migrating from a hosted imap server to an internal exchange server.

Much like Outlook, or any mail client, you can't just change form Imap to Exchange - you have to create a new account.

I have the mail migrated to the new server, I can create exchange accounts in mail and they work fine.

What would be neato would be able to move the mail on the client side from the imap inbox, to the exchange inbox, then let the exchange account sync, and delete the imap profile.

My understanding is that Mail in 10.6.x is still using imap for transport, rather than mapi, so I'm thinking there may not be format issues as there would be in outlook.

It seems like this should be easy to do with either a command line or script, but I thought I'd ask here rather than reinvent the wheel.

BTW: I already demonstrated to myself that this is doable by copying emlx format messages from my imap Messages folder, to the Exchange Messages folder.

Presumably, I could do the same thing with folders as well.

Now, I'm just looking to see if there is a script out there already to take some of the drudge work out, for I am a very lazy admin.
