gimp.app requires apples x11

I already have x11 installed because when I go to applications--> utils

X11 is there, i can not trash it and re install it because its a protected app, I have gone to the apple site to download the pkg of x11 to install it and it says that a newer version already exists on my system and refuses to let me re install it.

I have tried to open open office and i just get an error message that says that the command timed out with yes or no and nothing that requires x11 will open.
