what os are you usin? Os 9 should have stuffit expander installed, if not these are available on the CD, Os X should also have it, and if not you can download it from the link below, it is a disk image, so you should be able to open it and install it with Os X, then you can open your files.

http://www.aladdinsys.com/downloads/files/stuffit_lite_651.dmg

this version (Stuffit Lite) is absolutely free.

Just drop the couple bucks to buy the proper software.  There are other ways but I am not allowed to suggest them.

copy it over, run it and follow the insallation procedure, (if still intact, mostly files are never transfered raw like that but it should work) after installed, you should be able to open your archives :)

pc wha not found? hmm. ok, let me make up a self-extracting file at work with that in it, like i said, it very rarely works when you send a binary file straight across, but it was worth a shot, i will make a self-extracting file with it inside for you to try again, monday.

hey... theres no need... because i can get .hqx and otha binhex filez 2 open.. i jst need 2 put mac os 9 on there.. do u have it?

by: DABOMBPosted on 2002-02-09 at 10:42:31ID: 6791129

yeah, but it is on cd, and wouldn't be legal for me to just give you, the reason you can get hqx and binhex to open is because they are self-extracting.

stuffit expander

by: DABOMBPosted on 2009-06-05 at 13:36:34ID: 24559974

Wow willy3g, why are you posting on a 7 year old thread? Here's what the deal was, yes, he needed stuffit expander but what happened is he could not download stuffit expander without stuffit expander to extract the file to install it... he was caught in one of those chicken and egg nightmares. He needed the stuffit's installer in either raw form or a self-extracting archive because to open a non self-extracting archive he needed stuffit expander. At the time this thread was happening the geniuses who created stuffit expander assumed that you already had a version to open it with but that was no the case in older operating systems such as OS8 which he was using. I'd hope by now that he has gotten an updated mac.
